The BSR Consultation Process

Everyone’s Body Stress Release journey begins with booking three initial sessions, typically scheduled on day 1, day 4, and day 11. While some individuals respond quickly to the release process, others progress more gradually, and sessions are adjusted accordingly to suit each client’s unique response.

These first three sessions form the foundation of the healing process, allowing both the client and practitioner to gain a clear understanding of how the body is responding to the technique.

Outlined below is a three-phase approach to releasing stored tension and guiding the body towards a stable state of natural self-healing.

A Typical BSR Session

A typical Body Stress Release (BSR) session is a gentle, non-invasive process focused on locating and releasing "locked-in" muscle tension

. It is performed while the client is fully clothed, usually lying on a specialized, padded table, and focuses on the spine and associated structures.

This short video explains what a typical BSR session looks like.

Phase 1: The Intensive Phase

During your first session, a comprehensive case history will be taken and recorded on your personal, confidential client file. We will discuss your current concerns and what has brought you to Body Stress Release, including any specific areas of pain, stiffness, or discomfort.

A clear explanation of BSR and the release process will be provided before you are asked to lie, fully clothed, on a specially designed, padded BSR couch.

Your body will then be assessed, primarily along the spinal column, to identify areas where stress is being stored. This assessment involves a gentle touch at specific points, observing the body’s biofeedback response to determine whether stress is present.

Once the precise patterns of stored tension have been identified, the release is performed using a comfortable, controlled pressure combined with a slight impulse from the practitioner’s hands.

Following the session, I will explain the findings, schedule your next appointment, and provide guidance on rest, posture, and simple exercises to support your progress between sessions.

The Intensive Phase typically consists of three sessions, but may be extended depending on your individual needs and until your primary concerns have been addressed satisfactorily.

Follow Up Sessions

Phase 2: Deeper Stress Release

After each session, you will be informed of the stress patterns identified during the release, along with any relevant observations regarding muscle tone and tension.

As the body begins to respond, these patterns often shift and change in subsequent sessions, reflecting the body’s natural process of adjustment and recovery following each release.

You will also be encouraged to follow personalised self-care recommendations, including posture awareness, rest, and simple supportive practices tailored to your individual case.

This phase focuses on progressively releasing deeper layers of stored tension, allowing the body to move towards a more balanced and optimal state of well-being.

Phase 3: Maintenance

Most people recognise the importance of regular servicing when it comes to their vehicle, ensuring it continues to function efficiently and reliably. In the same way, Body Stress Release supports the principle of prevention by helping to minimise the build-up of stress before it develops into discomfort or dysfunction.

Regular maintenance sessions assist the body in remaining balanced, resilient, and better able to adapt to the demands of everyday life.
